Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you Moray Council?

A: No, we are an independent charity, and partner with the council on their Recycling Centre.

Q: When are you open?

A: We are open Mon-Sat 1000-1530 and Sun 1000-1430. Please note our opening hours differ slightly from the Council’s opening hours.

Q: What time is the dump open?

A: The Moray Council Recycling Centre opening hours can be found here.

Q: What can we drop off?

A: We are very grateful for most reusable items. We don’t however accept donations of divan bed bases, mattresses, large household appliances or white goods, large wall units or pianos. For more info please see our donations page.

Q: Do you pick up rubbish or can you do a dump run for me?

A: Sorry no we’re not licenced for that. Please contact Moray Council to organise a Bulky Uplift or find a man with a van.

Q: Can you collect my old upholstered furniture?

A: We can collect if its in good condition with no major signs of wear or damage and if it still has its CE Fire Safety label attached. We cannot reuse or collect your item without it.

Q: What do you charge for collections?

A: We do not charge if you are in the Forres/Nairn/Elgin area and have 5 items or less. Please see Services for more info.

Q: What do you charge for Deliveries?

A: We offer free local (Forres, Nairn, Elgin) delivery to our customers who purchase large items from our reuse shop. Deliveries are subject to availability.

Q: Do you accept card payments?

A: Yes we accept all cards except American Express

Q: Where can we drop off our donations?

A: We have a covered drop off area within the Moray Council Waterford Recycling Site – our friendly staff will be on hand to help if required.

Q: Are there toilets on site?

A: Sorry there are no public toilets on site.

Q: Where does the money you make go?

A: As a registered charity and social enterprise, we are a non-profit. There is no owner of the business and as a community company our Articles of Association require that all money made goes back into running the enterprise and supporting our social aims. Q: Do you have disabled access?

A: Yes, we have two blue badge spaces on the main Council site. Please ask staff if you need help. Please be aware there are some steps and uneven surfaces within the site that may be unsuitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility problems.

Q: Are you closed for lunch?

A: No, we remain open, however Moray Council do close the site gates from 1150-1230 for lunch and sitework. During that time we are still accessible via car park steps but you cannot access the main site.

A: Yes we do, please see House Clearance page for more info.

Q: How do I go about organising a house clearance or collection?

A: You can contact us several ways. Our van is always busy so be aware you may have to wait a week or so before we can do the job.

Q: Can I buy a bike you have in the back?

A: No, I’m afraid all bikes we sell must be checked, tested and fixed before sale. The bikes out in the racks beside the bookshop are ready for sale.

Q: Can you repair items?

A: We don’t repair, but this may be a project in the future.
